Endemic bird flu is declared in a certain area, country or region when it occurs regularly in birds.

Endemic is also used often in biology to mean that a certain species of an organism is only found in a restricted area, defined artificially. For example, the spectacled bear is endemic to the tropical Andes region of South America because in the wild it is found only in that region and nowhere else.
